The House

The House of Moschino

Franco Moschino founded his house in Milan in 1983, arriving as fashion's great provocateur, an artist who loved couture deeply enough to mock it mercilessly.

Trained as an illustrator, Moschino turned clothing into commentary, stitching slogans like 'Waist of Money' onto belts and reimagining the Chanel suit with cheeky irreverence that delighted as much as it disrupted.

His surrealist instincts, peace symbols, smiley faces, gold question marks and oversized hearts, gave the house an instantly legible visual language and a rebellious, joyful spirit.

Beneath the jokes lay a serious humanist: Moschino used his platform to champion peace, environmental causes, and a critique of fashion's excess that was decades ahead of its time.

Today Moschino remains fashion's most playful house, where irony, colour and pop-culture spectacle keep alive a founder's belief that style should never take itself too seriously.
