Archive Couture, Reimagined

The New Look, Reborn.
The New Look, the Bar jacket, and a romantic vision of femininity that revived post-war Paris.
The House
Christian Dior founded his house in Paris in 1946, and with his first collection in 1947 he stunned the world, unveiling the 'New Look' that restored glamour, abundance and hope to a city worn down by war.
The New Look's cinched waist, rounded shoulders and extravagant full skirt, anchored by the sculptural Bar jacket, redefined the feminine silhouette and reestablished Paris as the capital of couture.
In just a decade Dior built an empire, pioneering the licensing and globalisation of a couture name and dressing the most elegant women of the age in his romantic, flower-inspired creations.
After his sudden death in 1957 the house passed through a remarkable lineage, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano and beyond, each reinterpreting his romantic genius.
Today Christian Dior remains one of the most storied names in fashion, a house where the founder's love of flowers, femininity and grand Parisian elegance continues to bloom.
