Belstaff

Belstaff was founded in 1924 in Stoke-on-Trent by Eli Belovitch and Harry Grosberg, its name a blend of the founder's surname and Staffordshire, and its mission to make protective clothing for a new motorised age.

The house pioneered the use of waxed Egyptian cotton, creating outerwear that was waterproof, breathable and tough, the ideal armour for motorcyclists, aviators and explorers.

The Trialmaster jacket, introduced in the 1950s with its belted waist and four front pockets, became the brand's defining garment and a fixture of competitive motorcycle trials.

Belstaff's jackets became cultural icons, worn by Steve McQueen, Che Guevara on his legendary ride, and the aviator Amy Johnson, each adding to a mythology of freedom and adventure.

Today Belstaff endures as a great British heritage house, its rugged waxed jackets uniting nearly a century of engineering, romance, and the open road.
